Fashioned after the music of Miles Davis groups in the late 1960s and early 1970s, this jazz-rock original for three players with rhythm section features flexible instrumentation, ad lib solo space for all, and a groove that shifts to a 12/8 African feel on the bridge. Instrumentation includes Part 1 (flute, oboe, violin, guitar, alto sax, trumpet, clarinet, soprano sax or tenor sax), Part 2 (alto sax, trumpet, clarinet or tenor sax), Part 3 (trombone, tenor sax or baritone sax) with Rhythm Section (drums, piano and/or bass). As recorded on Beauty and the Blues with jazz greats Billy Hart, Rufus Reid and Tom McKinley.
