Starting with the lively, contrapuntal Overture in ritornello form, Concertino for Strings demands only moderate technical facility. Movement II (Dirge) features cellos and basses in a pizzicato walking bass line that moves to other voices too. Ending with a lively Toccata, the third movement is highly animated while being technically accessible to most players. A well balanced work of moderate demand, this work is a real crowd pleaser!
