After many years of waiting - we are proud to announce the release of The Complete Works of Gaspar Sanz. Born in 1640, Gaspar Sanz is generally consideredthe greatest Spanish guitarist and composer of the seventeenth century. His three surviving instruction books (published in 1697) contained over 100 guitar pieces, ranging from simple, strummed rasgueado pieces, to the intricate fantasias, pavanas, and gallardas using the plucked panteado style.
Jerry Willard has transcribed these pieces in standard notation and tablature. These volumes also include an introduction with a biography of Sanz, and performance notes on the baroque guitar style; pictures and text from the original instruction books, and much more. The CDs include performances of a selection ofthe pieces.
The Complete Works of Gaspar Sanz is a must for serious students of the classical guitar!
