Allen Pote has written this anthem in memory of his brother who recently died. Using the familiar scriptural passage from Isaiah, which foreshadows the suffering of Jesus, he has chosen a haunting melody in F minor to poignantly express the text. With a pulsating rhythm, this tone painting moves toward the climax--"and by his suffering, we are healed", which resolves by the use of a major chord.
