This presentation of scales, arpeggios and rhythmic figures provides a concise mechanism for the development of technical proficiency and reading skills which will enhance student performance.
In the Scales portion, the twelve major scales are presented in the circle of fifths in reverse order, beginning with B-flat. Each scale is followed by the major arpeggios, dominant 7th arpeggio and the diminished arpeggio which lead to the next major scale. Minor scales are presented in all three forms (natural, harmonic and melodic). There are three chromatic scales -- two are scored for the full band to play together (F & Bb); the third is with the full practical range of each instrument.
The Rhythmic Figures are in 83 measures, beginning simply and graduating in difficulty. The final 8 measures are marked "for champions only." The student who can count all of the figures in the book will be well prepared in rhythmic-reading.
