According to Concone, the purpose of these lessons are "to place and fix the voice accurately;" and "to develop taste while singing broad, elegant, and rhythmical melodies." The first 25 lessons are intended to be sung as solfeggi, pronouncing on every note its corresponding Italian name (Do, re, mi...) and emitting each tone with equality, purity, intensity of voice, and preciseness of intonation. All 50 lessons should be vocalised -- sung upon the broad and open sound of the Italian vowel A (as pronounced in the work "father"). Concone's lessons are virtual must-haves for any serious vocalist.
