(Grades 4-9, 35 Minutes) 'Infectious'is the word that comes to mind when we think of the music of the late, great George M. Cohan. It is hard, if not impossible, to listen to 'Grand Old Flag, 'Yankee Doodle Boy,' or 'Over There' without finding your toes inadvertently tapping along to the rousing rhythms of his patriotic songs. The action takes place in an attic where a group of children discover a trunk containing memorabilia belonging to Cohan. The story of his life is told by having this children read from an old book they find in the trunk. Flashbacks highlighting scenes from Cohan's musical come to life on stage.
Songs include: American Born · Cohans Four · The Yankee Doodle Boy · Give My Regards to Broadway · Mary's a Grand Old Name · Over There · and Grand Old Flag (with American Born).
