Styles included in the book include mambo, samba, cha-cha-cha, bossa nova, bembe, partido alto, songo, baiao, bolero, merengue, mozambique, rhumba, and afoxe. The styles are organized according to their origin--Cuban and Salsa styles are found in the first section; Brazilian styles are found in the second. There is also a section for bass and chordal instruments in order to give the entire rhythm section the cohesiveness that a good understanding of the styles provides. An extensive glossary of terms is provided at the end of the book.
