This collection of arrangements and compositions for the Church Year is intended for children who are beginning the experience of singing in two-part harmony. All of these arrangements may be sung successfully in unison. However, the addition of the second part, which consists mainly of ostinati, canons, and partner songs, will help to develop aural skills and vocal independence within the choir. Many of the accompaniments suggest the use of instruments such as flute, recorder, handchimes, percussion, and Orff instruments in addition to keyboard. While the use of any of these parts is optional, their use greatly adds to the textural interest of the piece.
