Beautiful, meaningful carols gathered from many nations throughout the world and arranged specifically for mountain dulcimer solo. The majority of songs in this collection are not often heard in the standard Christmas repertoire, but were selected for their unique modal and drone qualities, which are appropriate for the dulcimer. Each song is from a different culture and reflects the mood and feeling of that culture. Many of the songs are for two dulcimers or dulcimer and guitar, and one is for three dulcimers. These songs can be played in octaves, with extra drones, harmonies, and percussion instruments, as heard on the companion cassette. Contains tunings, modes, and keys at the beginning of each song for easy tuning. Complete notation and tablature for the four-string dulcimer is included, with a brief description of the origin of the songs and complete lyrics.
