This unique collection showcases a sampling of "Canadiana" that was popularixed in the mid 20th century. The tunes showcase many playing styles, such as Breakdowns, Reels, Jigs, Polkas, and Waltes. Most were recorded between 1940 and1980 and many were based on traditional melodies brought over to this country bytheir forebearers in hte 18th century, but given their own unique twist by the artist.

Up to the easy Seventies, readio programs feature fiddle music on a regular basis which helped give these fiddlers enormous explosure. Several of the artists became national household names due to their radio and TV exposure.

The popularity of fiddle music reached it's peak in about 1967, and wained somewhat until the late 1990s when a new crop of fiddlers surged onto the scene,creating even greater interest in this style of music.
